Sydney Written Course (SAFE)

The Sydney Written Course

FCICM exam process demystified
Strategic approach to exam preparation
Suggested approach to short answers, ECG, ABG, biochemistry
Trial written exam

Now in its 11th edition, the Sydney Written Course is well-established in the training calendar. It has an excellent reputation for teaching structure and strategy for the Written Exams. Highlights include - small group workshops on how to answer written questions; real CICM examiners; full 2½ hour written exam which is marked by examiners with feedback, excellent lectures on statistics, critical care evidence base, microbiology etc. Now, with the exciting new addition of a clinical day (hot case and vivas) which employ videographic techniques for detailed feedback, the course is stronger than ever. Limited places for registration especially for the clinical day, so be quick !

Target Audience

  • The course assumes a reasonable level of theoretical knowledge - the objective is to refine question answering strategies and develop exam techniques, rather than to teach the theory of intensive care medicine
  • Advanced Trainees, intending to sit the FCICM exams

Faculty

Includes intensivists with experience in FCICM examination training
